Zasedba je nastala v Los Angelesu leta 1988, sestavljajo pa jo znamenita imena glasbene scene, in sicer vokalist Eric Martin, kitarist Paul Gilbert (mnoge svetovne kitarske revije ga uvrščajo v sam vrh kitaristov), basist Billy Sheehan (sodeloval je tudi z Davidom Leejem Rothom, The Winery Dogs, Talas, igral pa še s Steveom Vaijem) ter bobnar Pat Torpey (umrl 7. februarja lani), ki je sodeloval tudi z Belindo Carlisle, Ritchiejem Kotzenom, Robertom Plantom itd., večini pa je skupina poznana po hitu To Be With You.
